To kick off 2025, Katana headed to Florida for the inaugural GL52 Southern Series held at the Port of Pensacola. The Southern Series comprised two challenging regattas: the Pensacola Cup and the Southern Showdown.
With its vast, flat waters and dependable, if sometimes shifting, winds, the Pensacola Bay race course proved to be an ideal location. These conditions created a great playing field requiring all teams to fully concentrate on their performance and strategy.
While we did not finish the series exactly as we’d hoped in the overall standings, it was an incredibly valuable team experience. This Southern Series provided a fantastic opportunity for our new team to compete together in a world-class environment, honing our communication and dynamics ahead of the upcoming Great Lakes Series.
